Artist information

◾️ Garanbo◾️
Formed in 2022 out of Waseda University’s music circle “Waseda Rock Climbing,” Garanbo (formerly known as The Bagpipes) is one of the most exciting young bands emerging from Tokyo’s college music scene. Melding the roots of traditional melodies with modern rock energy, the group creates a distinct, rhythmic atmosphere that is both nostalgic and powerfully contemporary.
Built around the core trio of vocalist/guitarist Alex (James Alexander Hoki), guitarist/vocalist Kaito Hidaka, and bassist Hajime Yamamoto, Garanbo expands to a dynamic five-piece with live support on drums and keyboards. This lineup blends youthful energy with sharp musicianship, crafting a sound that feels both fresh and confidently mature. Showcase tracks from their The Bagpipes era, such as "Lucky Boy" (らっきいぼうい) and the cinematic music video for "Tada Mau" (ただ舞う), highlight their unique Japanese Folk Rock identity. Backed by a passionate, growing fanbase and a strong digital presence, Garanbo is a standout band to watch as they enter this bold new chapter.

◾️ ZIONHILL Session ◾️
Carrying forward the torch of heavyweight Japanese dub, ZIONHILL SESSIONS is a dynamic roots reggae collective led by trombonist Tetsufumi Saito. Born as an irregular jam session after the hiatus of Cultivator, the project has evolved into a massive, rotating ensemble of elite musicians. Their sound captures the raw, spiritual essence of traditional roots and Caribbean music while injecting a vibrant, contemporary edge. Following a lengthy hiatus, the collective made a triumphant return to the studio at Vivid Sound Recording, capturing a massive live-band energy that seamlessly bridges generations of Tokyo’s underground reggae scene.

◾️ Northern Pelé ◾️
Northern Pelé is an international indie band with soul, rock, roots, and 50s influences. The band has played shows across Japan, including festivals such as Asagiri Jam, Happy Farm festival in Nagano, Surf Jam in Chiba, and iconic venues such as Tokyo station and Tokyo Tower.
The band has had its music played on TV and movies in the USA, national radio in Canada and the UK, and has won numerous awards such as “Top 30 Songs of the Year” (BBC Radio Sheffield) and “Top 100 Unsigned Live Bands” (Music Connection Magazine, LA). Post-COVID we are back with a new name, some new members, and a slightly different sound, but still aiming to create a lively and fun live experience.
