About This Event
For the second show in their ambitious year-long release project, The Bagpipes present a night that pairs their vibrant, modern rock style with BESPER’s smooth “Cool & Pops” blend of soul, jazz, and City Pop. Formed in 2022 out of Waseda University’s music circle “Waseda Rock Climbing,” The Bagpipes is one of the most exciting young bands emerging from Tokyo’s college music scene. Built around the core trio of vocalist/guitarist Alex (James Alexander Hoki), guitarist/vocalist Kaito Hidaka, and bassist Hajime Yamamoto, the group expands to a dynamic five-piece with support on drums and keyboards.
Blending youthful energy with sharp musicianship, The Bagpipes craft a sound that feels both fresh and confidently mature—marking them as a standout act to watch.

Formed in Chiba in 2020 and solidified into their current lineup in 2023, this six-piece band has been steadily sharpening their creative identity. Beyond songwriting, they handle everything from visual design to direction and self-production, showcasing a truly multifaceted and forward-thinking artistry.
Their sound blends the smooth sophistication of ’70s New Soul, the breezy warmth of ’80s AOR, the vibrant pulse of ’90s Acid Jazz, and the nostalgia of City Pop. The result is a stylish, “Cool & Pops” groove all their own—elevated by a high-toned, velvety vocal presence that brings an unmistakable charm.
On stage, they captivate with a dynamic, full-bodied band sound, matched by the striking visuals and personalities of each member. Their live performances weave musicianship and character into a show that leaves a lasting impression.
