Artist Introduction: Demsky

The Tokyo Indie scene is rife with talent. Absolutely formidable talent. It’s one of the joys of being here. The deeper you go the more you find and if you’ve been here long enough, you will find some absolute gems. Demsky is one such gem.

The Canadian gent is less than 6 degrees of separation from everybody on the scene and that’s no accident. Not only has the former Momo Funk bass maestro been digging further and further into his ambient loving self but he is also one of the warmest, friendliest, most helpful and most hard-working human beings around.

As an ambient artist, Demsky really lets his roots in funk and jazz fly free. While violins and synths float like a mist through a forest, the hats and snares that drive his beats walk confidently beside you and cut the fog aside.

Before long Demsky will be a name that music-lovers instantly recognize and it will be carved in the legacy of Tokyo. Canada is certainly poorer for his absence but we here in Japan are richer for it. Sorry not sorry Canada, Demsky is ours.
