Artist Information
◾️ Tama Tsuboi ◾️
Born in 1991 in Auckland, New Zealand, Tama Tsuboi's life journey is as diverse as his music. At the age of 4, he moved to Nepal, spending a year in Pokhara before returning to New Zealand to grow up in the Nelson Bays region until age 15. Eventually, he relocated with his family to Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, settling in the town of Izu.
Tama's musical foundation was laid early, influenced by his parents who introduced him to artists like Keith Jarrett, Beethoven, Mozart, Paco de Lucía, Sting, and Sade. By age 8, these legends had sparked his love for music. At 13, he picked up the guitar with friends, quickly becoming a cornerstone of his life. Inspired by Spanish-style flamenco guitar, Tama taught himself to play, incorporating its unique flavor into his original compositions.
At 15, Tama committed to a career in music. By 17, he was already performing at various music events and summer festivals, carving out his place in the industry.
Since 2019, Tama has expanded his reach as a DJ and host of FM Yokohama’s Tuesday night program Unite2Night. As a composer, he contributed the song Ole! to NHK’s popular children’s TV program Inai Inai Baa!. His multifaceted career spans solo performances and his role as a member of the band SHAMANZ. Currently based in Kanagawa and Tokyo, Tama continues to captivate audiences with his music, sharing its beauty with the world.
