About This Event

Join us on May 9th for an unforgettable evening at WPU. Kuro Deko are thrilled to announce their collaboration with Seye Adelekan, a globally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and vocalist known for his work with Gorillaz and, more recently, as part of Utada Hikaru’s live band.

Together, they will unveil for the first time a mini EP titled “DOCUMENTAL,” featuring intimate portrait compositions by Jesus and Elliot. This collection represents a departure from their earlier works while remaining true to the essence of Kuro Deko.

In a special offering, they will exclusively sell cassette tapes of the fully recorded previous show, along with cassette Walkmans and boomboxes. (@stability_turn)

For those who prefer digital access, they will provide a video link for your convenience.

Once again, Kuro Deko is dedicated to pushing creative boundaries to deliver a memorable experience, and they have a few surprises that they will keep close to our hearts. This is an event you won’t want to miss!

Artist information

◾️ Kuro Deko ◾️

Kuro Deko is a Tokyo-based New Wave/Post-Punk band. Originally a solo project by Jesus Salinas (Mexico), it evolved into a duo with Elliot Cormack (England), who introduced dynamic guitar lines and deep, melodic vocals that seamlessly complemented the compositions. For live performances, Jesus plays bass and keyboards, Elliot handles lead vocals and guitar, and they are joined by Haku (China) on keyboards and Yuki (Japan) on drums.

The band has collaborated with Grammy-nominated producer Jay de la Cueva and had their work mixed by acclaimed musician Nick Zinner. Notably, they performed on the main stage at Mexico City’s Ceremonia Festival, supporting Massive Attack.  Their music blends 1980s synth textures with sharp post-punk edges, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of its members.

◾️ Jay de la Cueva ◾️

Jay De La Cueva is a Mexican musician, singer, songwriter, and producer. He began his career with the rock band Microchips and later became a member of groups such as Titán, Fobia, and Moderatto. In 2024, his self-titled solo album was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop/Rock Album.  Additionally, the song “Tokyo” from this album was co-written with the band Kuro Deko.

◾️ Seye Adelekan ◾️

Seye Adelekin is a versatile musician known for his work as a bassist and performer with artists like Gorillaz, Paloma Faith, Ellie Goulding, and Lana Del Rey.
As a solo artist, he blends soul, pop, and Afro-inspired sounds with an easygoing charm. His live sets are engaging, groove-led, and full of heart.

◾️ Delevingne (DJ) ◾️

Lost Generation.
His sets center around new wave, technopop, and post-punk. Influenced by film editing, he doesn’t aim for smooth transitions between tracks, but rather sticks them together in a raw, deliberate sequence.
He also plays alto sax in the free-noise/imitation punk band Reigai.
