Artist information

▶︎ B1F: LIVE MUSIC ◀︎

◾️ Theo Mizú ◾️

Hailing from the vibrant streets of São Paulo, a band with a fusion of Balkan, Middle Eastern, and Brazilian influences is making waves worldwide with its infectious and danceable tunes.

Emerging victorious as the "Best Street Band in São Paulo" at the "Toca Aí" competition in 2018, surpassing over 200 competing bands, this eclectic ensemble led by versatile musician Theo Mizú has garnered international acclaim.

What sets the project apart is its ability to merge diverse musical elements, creating a rich tapestry of sound. Theo collaborates with musicians from around the globe, resulting in a truly universal musical experience.

Having performed extensively across Europe and Asia (tours in the UK, Western and Eastern Europe, Thailand and Japan) and with notable festival shows such as at the British 'BOOMTOWN' - they have become a vibrant sensation in the global music circuit, captivating audiences of all backgrounds.

◾️ The Bagpipes ◾️

The Bagpipes are a young, still in University 5-piece band that carries a groove and professionalism beyond their years. The voice of frontman, James Alexander, is powerful and and back with keys, guitar, bass, and drums that will get you moving.

—————————

◾️ SOMBRA ◾️

SOMBRA is the pseudonym of the split Montreal & Tokyo based producer/songwriter, Matthew Cataldo. With influences ranging from 90s alternative grunge and industrial to underground house, techno and trip-hop, SOMBRA’s music is introspective and claustrophobic, yet paradoxically colourful and chameleonic.

Self-described as “music to turn off the lights to”, this quasi-ritualistic, and at-times obsessive-compulsive artistic process gives forth to dark, haunting, yet eerily familiar soundscapes. Like a window into the human condition, Cataldo explores themes of desire, animalism, social norms and mental health.

◾️ Three Ring Circus ◾️

Formed in Tokyo around 2013. All three are from the same high school.
Members are Akito Oyama (vocal.guitar.), Kazuki Tsunami (bass.), Johnny (drums.)

◾️ vitaruun ◾️

Dr.Vo. Kumiko, Key.Cho. Amana

Drummer and vocalist Kumiko Hattori from the twin-vocal trio Scenarioart, and Amana (ex-Moccobond), a seasoned keyboardist known for supporting acts like ORESKABAND and mekakushe, have joined forces to form the two-piece unit vitaruun (vaɪ.tə.loon).

Having crossed paths repeatedly in the Osaka music scene since their early 20s, the two artists developed a deep mutual respect while pursuing their own musical journeys. Now, more than a decade later, this powerhouse duo—featuring a super drummer-vocalist and a super keyboardist—is finally bringing their combined talents to life.

—————————

◾️ Zuma. ◾️

The dj/producer, by way of Tokyo, is a living, breathing example of the East meeting the West. His signature sound combines the vitality of the Tokyo metropolis and the chilled experimental groove unique to his native California upbringing.

His uniquely stylized productions, intricate percussive grooves and fluid yet playful bounce is a sonic identity that leaves an impression on many.

Amassing hundreds of thousands of streams from Spotify alone including features in Spotify’s curated Fresh Finds playlist and publications including Ones To Watch and MTV UK - Zuma.’s productions have captivated a multitude of forward-thinking listeners.

Currently at the forefront of the futurebeats & new-R&B scene in his residencies as a founding member of international experimental music collective Tribe 20:4 - he has played shows across San Diego, Los Angeles, Taiwan, and Tokyo with other prominent collectives such as the Traveler’s Club and TheFeels4Ever.

▶︎ 3F:ART GALLERY ◀︎

◾️ The Spilt Ink ◾️

“I decided to do something different. Completely different. I wanted to work on a style that I’d been thinking about for a while but never had the time. The pandemic gave me that time and I took full advantage of it. And I created “PopSick Art”. PopSick art is a juxtapose of three artforms that I love, comic book art, graffiti art and classic Hollywood George Hurrell photographs from the 1940’s.” - Johnny (The Spilt Ink)

◾️ Sartoria ◾️

◾️ Michael Towers ◾️

Illustrator and animator based in Tokyo.

I like to create quirky characters with simple, graphic shapes and bold, limited colours.
As an animator I've worked on briefs for clients such as Google, Culture Trip, Volvic, Ribena, Nike and HP. I've also had experience animating for TV shows such as Hey Duggee! and The Amazing World of Gumball.

◾️ VINCENTAINE ◾️

My name is Vincent Aimée. Some call me Vincentaine, Vince, Vin, or simply V. Or by other names… I’ve been known to go by different names depending on what I do.

I’ve moved in Japan several years ago and I chose to stay because of certain aspects of the society here I came to appreciate.

Expectedly, “Where are you from?” and “What work do you do?” are questions that come to your mind the first time you meet me. And yet, those topics of small talk do not matter. As you get to know me, you’ll discover the answers to those questions. Life is more about where you were born, what makes you money, their stereotypes and misconceptions.

I’m messed up. I’m an introvert always trying to be an extrovert, feeling like I’m living between worlds. I always create something showing it, consciously or not. Art is often my best way to communicate with others. Making it is cathartic, expressive, hopeful, and helps me cope with my inability to socialize well.

When we see each other in person, let’s talk about what we both like. I’m always looking for people to share ideas and collaborate on projects.

I’m glad we’ve met. Remember, you can tell me anything.

Enjoy your visit.
